Screen Actors Guild has remains silent

Hollywood, CA – When it comes to the portrayal of mass shooters, the trend remains disturbingly consistent: nearly every school shooting features a white male. “It’s absurd,” said an African American community leader. We’re constantly being separated into groups and labeled with racist comments, but when it comes to mass shooters, it’s like they’re all auditioning for a role in Congress.

Asian community members echoed similar sentiments, “We’re often portrayed as the ‘model minority’ or reduced to stereotypes, yet the real-life villains are looking more and more like the people making the laws,” said an Asian activist. “It’s like the media is trying to tell us that only white men can be the face of violence.”

Despite the uproar, the Screen Actors Guild has remained tight-lipped on the issue, refusing to comment on real life roles that have left many feeling marginalized. “We’re just here to support our members,” a SAG representative stated.

“Honestly, it’s like they’re trying to make a statement about who gets to be the villain,” said a spokesperson for a local gang, who wished to remain anonymous. “We’re out here trying to represent our communities, and they keep casting the same type of guy. It’s like they think we’re all just waiting for our turn to play the bad guy.”

Critics have pointed out that the trend of casting white males as active shooters not only perpetuates stereotypes but also desensitizes audiences to the real issues at hand. “It’s like they’re trying to normalize the idea that only certain people are capable of such violence, whether it be January 6 or bombing Palestine,” said a critic.

The portrayal of active shooters in real life is in desperate need of a makeover. Until then, audiences will continue to be left wondering why the face of violence looks so eerily similar to that of their elected officials.
